As a counselor and play therapist, who has specialized in working with divorced families, I have learned a lot of valuable info about divorce and families.
What is my story?
Having come from a family of divorce and having been through a divorce myself, I understand the complexity of divorce. I know that divorce can sometimes bring out the worst version of ourselves as people and as parents. In fact, divorce is one of life’s events that is found at the top of the stress charts. I know this all too well. So, I’m here to offer you hope and maybe even a little guidance. 😉
To tell you a little bit about me. I’m a wife, and a mom to 3 kids and 3 dogs. I’m trained as a mental health counselor and a play therapist. I’ve been working in the mental health field for about 15 years. I love to create, travel and learn. On personality quizzes, I tend to show up as an introvert most of the time, but I really love a sense of community and group when it flows well.
Why do I do this?
I am passionate about helping people solve problems. I have strong feelings and care deeply about people. I tend to be playful and appreciate humor even in the difficult topics, such as the topic of divorce. I enjoy nature, healthy living, animals, adventure and action and, if I’m honest, I struggle with stillness. From an early age, I have always had an interest in understanding people and behavior and figuring out problems and offering solutions. Perhaps this is because my own path has not always been an easy one, facing struggles with the usual life issues: health, family, relationships, career. But I’m blessed with an indomitable spirit (I never give up!), a deep personal faith, people in my corner, and a sense of humor and playfulness that keeps me going.
What is my purpose?
My purpose for writing this blog is to connect with people, share my struggles, my insights, my knowledge, and even some science that hopefully can be helpful for others. Connecting through sharing our stories is at the heart of what makes us human. We all have our strengths and our struggles. Having self-awareness about both is what can help us be more fulfilled and successful in life.
Feel free to leave any comments or questions, as I welcome feedback. I only ask that you be kind. Treat others as you would like to be treated. I’m so glad you are here!
To your health and happiness!
